I will deliver on my promises-Nana Akufo-Addo

Accra, Dec. 5, GNA - The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday drew the curtains down on its political electioneering campaign for the December 7 poll with a massive show of strength at a national rally held at the Accra Academy School Park.

Tens of thousands of the party's loyal supporters clad in NPP colours defied a heavy rainfall to listen to their leaders.

President John Agyekum Kufuor, Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP Presidential Candidate, and other leading members took turns to address them.

They included Mr. Allan Kyerematen, Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Nana Akomea, Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Sheikh I.C Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Professor Mike Ocquaye and Nana Ohene Ntow.

The First Lady, Madam Theresa Kufuor, Hajia Rahmatu, wife of the Vice President and Dr Mahmudu Bawumia, Vice Presidential Candidate, were among the top level personalities present.

Nana Akufo-Addo pledged to deliver on the electoral promises he has made, when given the mandate to lead the nation. "We promised the people of Ghana positive change in the year 2,000 and we have delivered to the satisfaction of the overwhelming majority of Ghanaians."

He said he would provide selfless leadership to develop the country as a free democratic nation, where the rights of the people would be respected.

The NPP Presidential Candidate told the cheering supporters that he would continue with the good policies and programmes of the Kufuor Adminsitration that had restored hope and renewed the national spirit. A solid socio-economic foundation, he said, had been laid and that he was going to build on it for job and wealth creation and progress of the people.

He stated that an industrial revolution was the next phase of the country's development and that was exactly where he would be taking the nation.

Nana Akufo-Addo counselled the party's loyalists to ensure restraint and not to allow themselves to play into the hands of their opponents, yearning to cause confusion and violence.

President Kufuor said the choice the electorate faced on December 7 was a clear one, and this was to be on the side of progress by voting massively to return the NPP to power.

"We have proved over the past eight years that we are a caring Government with good policies and programmes for the country." He urged Ghanaians not to be deceived by the hypocrisy, insults and threats by elements of the opposition political parties.
