National Reform Party activists support Atta Mills

Accra, Nov. 18, GNA - Activists of the National Reform Party (NRP) in 50 constituencies have endorsed the candidature of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, for the 2008 elections.

In a statement signed by activists from Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta, Northern and Central regions, the activists urged the National Working Committee of the National Reform Party to publicly endorse the decision of the membership of the party to support Prof. Atta Mills.

The statement noted that, the NRP national consultative meeting agreed that, the Party would not run a national campaign but upon the study of other progressive parties' programmes, shall endorse a party whose policies best advanced the national interest.

"Based on the party's beliefs and principles of grassroots initiatives, (NRP) activists from 50 constituencies across the country resolved that, the policies of Prof. Mills, if implemented will best advance our stated goals which will lead to national development.

"We are calling on all Reform activists across the length and breadth of the county to support the campaign of the NDC and Prof. Mills in their various constituencies."

It said in the event of a run-off, Reform, will as in 2000, support a candidate whose election will best serve the national interest. 18 Nov. 08
