Nana Frema Busia Nana Frema Busia THE INDEPENDENT parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia constituency, Nana Frema Busia, legal Counsel to the National Security and Technical Advisor of the Small Arms Commission, has advocated a national moral and ethical call order, to address sexual harassment, which canker she described as a pervasive national tragedy.

She noted that sexual harassment was widespread and holding Ghanaian womanhood hostage and under sexual bondage, something she said, called for national mourning. “We need a day of national mourning to root out moral decadence,” she said, and called on women not to kowtow to men without honour.

The daughter of the late Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, Nana Frema Busia, who has embarked on a campaign as an independent candidate, under the slogan: “Sure Progress with integrity,” to initiate fundamental changes, has therefore proposed a Professional Violence & Empowerment Bill and policies to deal with the canker, and would lead a movement to activate the ideals of the United Party (UP) tradition at the Manhyia constituency, which is the heart of that tradition which epitomised the “Mate Me Ho” movement.

Nana Frema Busia is advocating freedom of women against injustice, and the proposition that every woman everywhere in Ghana should have sexual security within the confines of her body, as part of the security policy of this country.

According to her, the use of women as kickbacks was a national tragedy, which was killing the souls of women all over Ghana, and thwarting national development.

She noted that all over Ghana, Ghanaian womanhood was in a crisis, because women were suffering in silence.

As a result of her position, she appealed to women’s groups, including professionals, decent men, Christians, churches and human rights and democratic institutions, to support her candidature in search of true democracy, in the areas of gender, peace and security and corruption.

Frema Busia was speaking out against sexual oppression and the subjugation of human rights, because she did not believe that a professional woman, with her knowledge and skills of 23 years of international legal experience and technical expertise in peace and security, would have to succumb to unaccountable men in positions of power, for sex.

According to her, a powerful sexual predator at the presidency, once told her, “If I want to kill you, I know torture tactics,” for the simple reason that she refused to become his mistress.

“For refusing to have illicit sex, standing firm, and upholding zero tolerance principles against duping Ghana of millions of dollars, specifically, for saying no to the offer of a national asset with Chinese interests on divestiture, valued at US$20 million, and for refusing to cooperate with associates of the Presidency, to siphon moneys from the United Nations and the international donor community, I am considered a threat who should be eliminated by torture,” she told The Chronicle, as she explained why a death fatwa was allegedly placed on her life, by the former National Security Minister, Mr. Francis Poku.

Nana Frema Busia was also angered by the fact that her project against the developmental security of the country, under a five-year national peace action plan to intervene in conflict zones such as Yendi, Bawku and Anloga, among others, is on hold, because she refused to have sex with powerful men at the Presidency.

She wondered why in spite of her contributions towards national developmental security for the sub region, and representation of Ghana in the international community, she should sit at home at the cost of US$30,000 a year in rent, and do nothing, simply because she refused to have sex with the powers that be.

In a true democracy where women are accepted as equal partners in development, no woman should lose their job for refusing to have sex, she proposed.

She also condemned the act of abusing women who contribute to national development, by rendering them destitute and hopeless, for having good brains, and called for justice and equality of resources at the national level.

As a member of Parliament (MP), Frema Busia has promised to challenge the status quo, invigorate the youth, and be a role model for the girl child and boys, liaise with decent Ghanaians to do awareness education on sexual maturity for undeserving ‘bad boys’ who find themselves in positions of power and abuse it.

She believed that God had given Ghana a future based on hope, and therefore would not allow herself to be a victim of sexual aggression and political repression, against the background that she was eligible to the Supreme Court, including the position of Chief Justice, and working to earn US$33 million for ECOWAS and US$ 1 million for Ghana.

The aspirant, who claims that she had suffered continuous torture involving various national security agencies, including the Presidency, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service (CID), various ministries and media houses, operating as torture agents for five years, says “I shall not kowtow to intimidation and sexual subjugation by a so-called positive change democracy. Instead, I choose to stand for ethical values in governance.”

She said this in protest against, what she called “a financial stagnation diet” in the non-payment of her salary for six years, as part of her punishment of torture.
