Government commended for creating new district

Bawjiase, Oct 29, GNA- Mr Oppey Abbey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu-Senya, has commended the government for creating the Awutu-Bereku District.

Mr Abbey commended the government at Bawjiase at the weekend during a meeting with residents in the area. He reminded them that with the creation of the new district, they would face more challenges in the communities. He told them to put away partisan interests and forge ahead in unity, and that they should be more committed and dedicated than before to bring development to the district. The MP also lauded the chiefs and opinion leaders for their co-operation and support, which had contributed immensely to the creation of the new district.

Mr Abbey appealed to all and sundry to put their shoulders to the wheel in their efforts to develop the area. He commended chiefs in the area for providing temporal offices for the new district with its capital at Awutu, which takes off next January.

Nii Kwlabbi Clottey, Mankrado of Awutu-Bereku, was also grateful to the government for creating the district, and said, with the creation, the long-cherished dream of the chiefs and people in the area had come true. Nii Clottey asked the youth in the area to rally behind the chiefs and other opinion leaders in their efforts to improve the living standards of the residents. He advised the youth to do away with social vices, and exert their exuberant energies onto positive and viable ventures that would help them become responsible adults.
