MP attacked by armed robbers

Member of Parliament(MP) for Krowor Constituency, Hon. Abraham Odai last week escaped death by a hair’s breath when a group of armed men attacked his household at his residence at Spintex Road in the night.

The MP was held up within the walls of his house by the armed men, but managed to jump over the walls even though one of the robbers who targeted him at close range missed target with the bullets hitting the wall.

In an interview with the MP at Sakumono Community Clinic, he said the people in the house were over-empowered by the armed men, and that no one could run away.

He said he was in his bedroom when he heard an usual noise in the house. According to him, he stood up and saw the armed men in mask beating up the people while interrogating them concerning him the MP.

He said he could not call the Police from there and so he tried to escape through the window but unfortunately for him, one of the masked men spotted him around the wall and fired a gun but the bullets missed him.

He continued that soon after the gunshot, they all thought he was dead and so they did not bother to go near the wall, but started ransacking the place.

The robbers made away with ¢20m. He said, they subjected a visitor who had come to visit his friends, thinking he was the son of the MP until one of them identified the victim as an innocent stranger.

According to him, he called the Teshie Police Station during the action in the house, but he was told that they had limited numbers of policemen at post to attend to a case of such nature.

He said the police cum military patrol team arrived there a few minutes after the robbers had left the house. The trauma-soaked MP could not speak at length with The Sun.

THE SUN deduced that the MP’s abode at Spintex is not safe, as it is an isolated area way detached from other residence.

According to him nobody was killed but his driver was affected in the neck, where the armed men stepped on when he had been ordered to lie down.
