USAID Mission Director bids farewell

Accra, April 26, GNA - United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director, Sharon L. Cromer on Thursday bade the Minister of Health farewell and announced that her new appointment was in Nigeria.

"It is with sadness that I bid farewell. I have had a wonderful working relation with MOH," she told the Deputy Minister, Mr Samuel Owusu-Agyei who sat in for Health Minister Major Courage Quarshigah (Rtd) in Accra.

She expressed contentment working in Ghana in areas such as malaria, tuberculosis and interventions made to improve the health of Ghanaians. She, however, said more work needed to be done. She said what was achieved was in with collaboration of other development partners and expressed optimism that the new health paradigm of preventive and regenerative health would yield the desired impact as well as improve the health of Ghanaians.

Mr Owusu-Agyei said the ministry was grateful for assistance in guinea worm eradication, where cases were expected to reduce drastically within a year, and other areas of the health sector.

"We are extremely grateful and wish you the best in Nigeria. We will continue to work hard and you will be hearing from us," he told her.

He presented her with a 50th anniversary pin, a Ghana flag pin and a kente scarf to take along as souvenirs from Ghana and as a sign of gratitude.
