Parade Jubilee - Takoradi

A colourful and splendid parade heralded Ghana' independence Golden jubilee celebrations at Tanokrom near Takoradi. The parade was made up of 11 officers and 950 men and women drawn from the security services, with the Ghana National Fire Service band from in Accra in attendance.

Almost all the major roads in Takoradi were jammed with human and vehicular traffic as the whole town was invaded with people from all walks of life.

Anxious people who wanted to watch the occasion arrived at the parade grounds around 0600 hours and within a few hours the whole place was filled to capacity with people clad in the national colours. Awulae Attiburukusu, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Mr. Kwesi Blay the Deputy Regional Minister and Regional Force Commanders.
