Trassacco Now Security Zone

The Police Administration has declared Trassacco Estate, off the Tema Motorway a security zone during the period spanning the 50th Anniversary celebrations and advised that people working in the area cooperate with security agents who would be exerting strict measures there. The administration has further advised drivers plying the route to avoid over speeding, careless driving and be prepared to comply with police instructions when these are issued.

In a release signed by DSP Kwesi Ofori, Ag Director of Public Affairs of the Police, the administration directs that drivers on that route should obey sirens and avoid breaking the formation of motorcades.

Members of the public who live along or ply the ceremonial highway, which starts from the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout through 37 Military Hospital to the Independence Square are also to be careful and cooperate with the Police.

“Furthermore, all hawkers operating along the ceremonial highway and the principal streets, including the Ring Road, Circle to Accra business centre, Ako Adjei Interchange to Circle are also advised to vacate them.

Anyone caught hawking or begging for alms along these routes would be arrested and dealt with accordingly,” the statement warned. The Police have called on the general public also to cooperate with them “to ensure a peaceful and a successful 50th anniversary celebration.”
