CPP has answers to Ghana's problems - Thompson

Takoradi, Oct. 22, GNA - Mr Yoofi Thompson, National Organiser of the "Patriots" of the Convention Peoples' Party (CPP) says the current socio-economic hardships facing Ghana was the price the nation had to pay for the 1966 coup that ousted first President Kwame Nkrumah. He therefore called on the people, particularly those who believe in the ideas and philosophies of Dr Nkrumah, the founder of the CPP tradition, to rally solidly behind the Party in order to save the country from further destruction.

Mr Thompson was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Takoradi after the launch of the campaign of the "Patriots", a group within the CPP working to rebuild the Party's structures from the grassroots to enhance its chances in the upcoming elections.

He repeated that the activities of the "Patriots" were essentially to bring all 'true Nkrumahists' back to the CPP family. Mr Thompson stated that there was no need to waste energy and resources on "unity talks" which, he said could be a ploy by the Party's opponents to divert attention from vigorous campaigning toward the elections.

He said members of the "Patriots" were concerned about the "sagging" fortunes of the CPP, as well as the deteriorating living conditions of Ghanaians and added that the CPP would create a credible and alternative national development agenda for the people.
