Scouter Complete Adventurous Walk

Accra (GAR), June 25, - Four scouters have completed a special adventurous sponsored walk covering 650 miles in 25 days. Scouters Justice Joseph Nobi, Samuel Quartey, and Ilyasu Allotey, all from Accra, and Lord Annan from Cape Coast set out on May 24 from Navrongo and arrived at Accra on June 24. Scouter Nobi, leader of the group who disclosed this to newsmen in Accra on Tuesday, said the walk which was sponsored by the National Executive Committee of the Ghana Scout Association enabled them to create the necessary awareness among the youth who need to be trained in scouting duties. He said a total of 40 towns were covered during the walk that took them through Bolgatanga, Walewale, Tamale, Kintampo, Techiman, Ejisu, Konongo, Nkawkaw, Anyinam, Suhum, Nsawam, Amasaman and Pokuase. He said apart from some minor ailments like fever and muscle pull which they experienced, the adventure was highly successful. He expressed members' appreciation to district chief executives, assemblymen and chiefs in the towns covered for the warm reception accorded them. Scouter Nobi, who took part in the Accra-Konongo walk with Vincent Essuman, the ace walker, in 1989, appealed to the Ghana Olympic Committee to include scouters in the list of walkers for the France 98 World Cup.
