GSE Index inches up in slow trading

Accra, May 16, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) went up slightly on Wednesday with a little help from Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL).

The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock measure, gained 1.42 points at 4,768.68 points from 4,767.26 points. Change for the year was better at -0.01 per cent.

Shares traded were lower at 149,700 from 227,000 on Monday. On the broader market there were three positive price changes. Aluworks gained another 15 cedis at 6,570 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank inched up by one cedi at 6,312 cedi and GGBL rose by 18 cedis at 8,720 cedis.

Market capitalisation was better at 92,398.57 billion cedis from 92,394.81 billion cedis.
