Rawlings in Libya

TRIPOLI, March 22 -- The Leader of the Revolution received Tuesday afternoon the former President of Ghana Jerry Rawlings currently visiting Great Jamahiriya.

During this meeting President Rawlings expressed his profound pride of the historic friendship relations with the Leader confirming his deep appreciation of the efforts made by the Leader for the pride and progress of the African continent.

He said that he was following up the efforts of the Leader Mu'ammer alGathafi which were crowned by the establishment of the Great African Union in which he saw a realization of what the founding fathers Kwame Nkrumah Jamal Abdul Nasser Modeibo Kita and others believed in and fought for.

He also expressed his delight to be in Great Jamahiriya saying that it again put him in the strong and affectionate relations with the Libyan people and the Leader of their Revolution Mu'ammer AlGathafi .

During the meeting a number of the political and economic situations in the African continent were reviewed in addition to underlining the importance of encouraging African civil institutions and organizations in development fields and realization of peace throughout the continent.

The Assistant Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation attended the meeting.
