Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, has said the 2014 FIFA World Cup fiasco in Brazil has given him a jolt in life.

“…I’m an events person, this is not something that could have overpowered me but the forces were too strong, Elvis told Bola Ray on Starr Chart Wednesday.

Afriyie Ankrah who was the head of government’s delegation in Brazil was largely flaked and held accountable for the fiasco surrounding Brazil 2014.

A Commission of Inquiry chaired by Appeals Court Judge Justice Senyo Dzamefe was set up by the President on the back of the troubles at the World Cup in Brazil to look into what caused Ghana’s poor showing at the football fiesta.

The President was forced to terminate his appointment as the Sports Minister because of the embarrassment that came with the 2014 world Cup.

However, years after the sorry incident, Afriyie revealed there was a tactical campaign to make him fail.

“There were people who for one reason or another did not like me and the World Cup was an opportunity for them…there is a lot of politics in football, he stated.
