The President of Association of Ghana Industry, Yaw Adu-Gyamfi has pleaded with a Turkish business delegation to Ghana to make use of opportunities here and establish businesses in the country.

According to him, the model of foreign investors bringing in finished or semi-finished products to sell should be changed.

“We have fertile lands, knowledgeable and skillful young people ready to work, a lot of them are just lacking money to start off” he said.

He said, investment in Ghana does not only give the investor access to the people of Ghana,s rather the entire Sub-Saharan Africa.

“ The market in Ghana is not only about the 30million people ,we are talking about the 300million people in the Sub-Region because of the continental free-trade agreement, whatever is being produced in Ghana can be exported to all the 54 countries in Africa” he said.

Adu-Gyamfi was of the view that, the increasing number of unemployed graduates makes Ghana a perfect destination for businesses since the human resources are readily available.

“Bring your skills and machines to help us build local businesses” he said.

He said, one of the Akufo-Addo-led government flagship programs ‘one-district, one-factory’ is to see to it that businesses are created to absorb the teeming unemployed graduates.

“My heartbeat is that the businesses that are collapsing in Ghana need a helping hand and so take advantage of the numerous incentives and help revive the investment sector” he said.

Yaw Adu-Gyamfi was speaking at the Ghana- Turkey Business-to Business meeting in Accra on Monday, November 26.
