We have water problems too - Keta MP tells Mahama

Richard Quashigah Richard Quashigah

Member of Parliament for the Keta constituency Richard Quashigah has rubbished claims by the President that communities facing water shortages now have access to water.

According to the former propaganda secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, contrary to claims by the President, his constituency which gives the party the largest number of votes is still facing severe water challenges.

Hon. Quashigah said the almost decade old water shortage situation in the constituency is yet to be addressed by the NDC government.

The President during the ‘State of the Nation Address’ touted fixing the water problem in Abuakwa and Nsawam. But the Keta MP questioned why a major need of the ruling party's stronghold remains unattended to.

“In the last election the Keta constituency gave the NDC the highest in percentage terms of votes, 94.7 percent and we are ever ready to move it 97.4 percent but now we are asking that our people need water because water they said is life.

"Whereas a similar situation happened elsewhere and quickly solutions are found, you will would imagine how the people of Keta would feel. Yesterday we were told about the grandiose water project that had been done in Kyebi, we trumpeted it and we were all very excited about it but what about the people…within the Keta constituency.

"So as much as water systems are done in parts of Ashanti region and Eastern region, the people of Keta also deserve same and we are calling and appealing that please hear the cry of the people of Anyarko...and address this issue that has become chronic".
