We are happy with Asamoah’s debut – Commey

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aduana Stars Albert Commey has said it is a relief to see Nathaniel Asamoah play for the team.

Asamoah made his debut for Aduana Stars on Sunday, July 10 in the 0-0 draw with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium. The striker came on a second-half substitute.

Speaking to Class Sports, Mr Commey said: “We feel excited and vindicated because there were rumours that we couldn’t get his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for him to play, so a lot of anxiety set in because he started calling me on a daily basis. But we kept telling him that since his contract was mutually terminated, it becomes the issue of the association and not the club, and for 15 days if there are no responses by the club, FIFA will grant him a temporary certificate to play, and that is what happened.

“He brought some bite up front, he was running and putting pressure on the defenders, and we know that there is more room for improvement. It is understandable because he just joined the team and is working on his family. When we get him to his level, you can imagine what it will be.”

Asamoah was with Tarkwa-based side Medeama SC last season and was the league’s top scorer in the first round before he joined Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.
