US musical youth group arrives on tour

A 25-member musical youth group, Stillwaters Sinfo-Nia Youth Orchestra, based in Atlanta, United States, is in the country to undertake a two-week tour.

The group, mostly students, will also arrange exchange programmes with some selected Ghanaian schools.

Speaking to the GNA at the airport, Mr David Robinson, Leader and Founder said this is the group's first performance in Africa since its inception 11 years ago.

They chose Ghana because of her "rich and colourful cultural diversity," Mr Robinson said.

The group will perform at the Statehouse before a state audience including President John Agyekum Kufuor and other government officials and tour the Northern, Central, Eastern and Ashanti regions.

In the north, they will pay a courtesy call on the Ya-Naa and participate in the Damba festival. They will also visit the Manhyia palace in Kumasi.
