US medical team to undertake free operations at Apam Hospital

Apam (C/R), Aug. 19, GNA - A team of medical doctors from the United States of America would be arriving at the Apam Catholic Hospital in September to attend to patients with various ailments and also perform surgeries free of charge.

Some of the ailments are goitre, hernia, fibroid, Plastic surgery and child health Orthopaedic cases. The Principal Nursing Officer of the Hospital, Miss Rosemond Turkson, made this known when giving a lecture to the Out-patients of the hospital a= t Apam on Monday. She had therefore appealed to all those who were interested to registe= r in advance at the hospital in order to benefit. Miss Turkson advised patients who visited the hospital to exercise restraint whilst they were being attended to.

The Principal Nursing Officer appealed to patients not to insist on seeing only one doctor.

If a patient insists on being attended to by a particular medical officer and the said medical officer happens to be absent on that day, they would be disappointed, she said.

"Unless a patient is told by a doctor to specifically see him on his next visit, the patient must be prepared to be attended to by any available medical officer," adding 93the only important thing is to be examined by= a medical doctor".
