Tsikata Has Bigger Case To Answer

The Auditor-General Mr. Edward Dua Agyeman, has expressed outrage at the gratuitous misapplication and wastage of public funds that occurred at the GNPC, and called on government to put a rein on it.

The A-G?s concern follows a discovery that during the era of Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, Ex-Chief Executive of GNPC, an amount of 1,965,265 FF (US $351,004.46) or ?3.16 billion was spent on the reprinting of a magazine titled: ?Ghana Today? into five foreign languages, without making use of the magazine.

The magazine was re-printed into French, Arabic, Japanese, English and German languages.

A total of 26,833 copies of the magazine was re-printed allegedly without authorization, and left at the corporation?s warehouse in Tema.

The re-printing which was done in Paris was alleged to have promoted GNPC and petroleum exploration.

?Sadly enough?, according to the A-G, ?nowhere in the 240-page magazine (Ghana Today) can one find a promotion of the corporation?.

?There is no single mention of GNPC anywhere in the magazines?, he contends.
