Three Fulani robbers remanded in custody

The Kintampo District Magistrate’s Court, has remanded three Fulani suspected armed robbers into prison custody for attacking passengers at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Brong Ahafo Region Crime Officers told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that the armed robbers were arrested at Apaaso police check point near Kintampo in an Opel taxi, upon a tip off.

He said police on Monday signal the vehicle with registration number GP 4640 U carrying suspects Sidibe Abdulai 30, Abdul Sule, 30 and Saliu Mohammed, 28 to stop for inspection but Sule attempted to flee from the cab into nearby bush, but was chased and arrested by the police.

ASP Tawiah stated that police found one baitel gun, one jack knife and GH¢ 965 kept at the boot of the taxi.

Three mobile phones and two torch lights were also retrieved from the handbag of Abubakar.

He said the robbers succeeded in robbing seven vehicles and a motor bike at Oforikrom and Ntankro road near Kintampo.

The robbers barricaded the road with pillars and wood and ordered the victims to lie down and subjected them to several beatings and demanded from them monies, mobile phones and other personal belongings.

ASP Tawiah stated that one of the victims, a motor rider who sustained injuries on the right armed and robbed of GH¢ 45 and two Nokia phones managed to escape to a nearby bush when the robbers turned to other victims in a vehicle.

He said the victim reported the matter to the police and a snap check was mounted on the road where the robbers were arrested.
