Teenage pregnancies at Obawale

Obawale (E/R), June 15, GNA - About 60 per cent of teenage girls at Obawale in the Eastern Region get pregnant between age 13 and 18.

The activities of drug peddlers and other offences are also creating insecurity in the community.

Mr Odonkor Nartey, assemblyman for the area said this at the inauguration of a neighbourhood watchdog committee at Obawale to support the three-man police force stationed at the area.

He called on parents to be more responsible to their wards and to practice family planning.

Mr Nartey appealed to the Police administration to post more policemen to the area.

Inspector S.K. Gyimah, officer in charge of the Obawale Police station, who performed the function asked the 35 volunteers to assist the police in combating crime in the area.

Mr Reuben Nartey and Mr Vincent Koranteng are chairman and secretary respectively.
