Tarzan, NPP face-off on Friday

XYZ News gathers that embattled Stalwart of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey will appear before the Party’s Disciplinary Committee on Friday, June 14, 2013.

There has been no love lost between Dr. Wereko-Brobbey and the Leadership of the Party over the past few weeks, due to his criticisms of the NPP’s 2012 Flagbearer’s decision, together with his running mate and party chairman, to challenge the results of the last elections in court.

The former Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority and one-time presidential candidate of splinter party, United Ghana Movement, for the umpteenth time, suffered an avalanche of aspersions hurled at his person, coupled with gales of hard-hitting commentary by both party leaders and supporters, for describing the party’s 2012 running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a “clueless” and confused witness in the ongoing election petition.

His criticism ruffled raw nerves in the party, resulting in his suspension and hauling before the disciplinary committee.

XYZ's sources within the party reveal that Dr. Wereko-Brobbey’s scheduled meeting with the committee on Friday is part of the NPP’s laid down procedures toward instilling discipline in its rank and file.

XYZ News’ investigations reveal that Tarzan, as Dr. Wereko-Brobbey is popularly known, will be given the opportunity to explain himself at Friday’s meeting before the leadership of the party takes any decision on his fate with the NPP.
