Businesses owners in Old Tafo a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis in the Ashanti Region are calling for the immediate review of the curfew impose on the community following disturbances that broke out between irate youth and traditional authorities observing that it is gravely affecting their business.

The curfew was imposed after violent clashes between the two groups leading to the destruction of public and private property over the construction of a fence wall for the Old Tafo Cemetery.

But business owners complain that the 8pm to 4am curfew imposed on the community is seriously affecting their business hence the need for the Regional Security Council (REGEC) to withdraw the curfew.

Among the worst affected businesses in the Old Tafo Community and its environs include Pharmaceutical shops, drinking bars, food vendors and restaurants among others.

Ultimate News’ Isaac Justice Bediako Visited Old Tafo three weeks after the riot disclosed that most entrepreneurs are complaining that they are unable to fend for their families because they no longer make adequate sales because of the curfew.

“We are a community pharmacy and operate between 5pm to 9pm but because of the curfew we cannot operate within our peak periods”, Kofi Yeboah with Kobi Memorial Pharmacy observed.

His colleague who operates a drinking spot, Nana Prempeh complained of poor sales indicating he is weighing the option of relocating to another community to be able to generate income to take care of his family and other dependants.
