TOR Levy Will Be Unfair

The Secretary-General of the TUC, Mr. Kwasi Adu-Amankwah, has said it will be unfair for the government to introduce the proposed Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) debt recovery levy.

According to him, Ghanaian workers cannot survive any further taxes or levies taking into account the high cost of living brought about by the recent increases in petroleum prices.

He was addressing the Cape Coast District Council of Labour. He said Ghanaians were made to understand that 30 per cent of the recent increment in petroleum prices were taxes and, therefore, there is no need to introduce more taxes.
