Sustain peace during and after elections -MP

Apam (C/R), Jan. 7, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr. Joe Hackman, has appealed to Ghanaians to sustain the peace that the nation is enjoying during and after the general elections.

He said election years were fraught with acrimonies and intimidations and Ghanaians should not do anything that would undermine Ghana's position as the most peaceful country in West Africa.

Mr. Hackman was speaking at a farewell service organised by the Saint Joseph Catholic Church at Apam on Sunday for Rev. Fr Joseph Mensah, who is on transfer to Our Lady of the Apostles (OLA) Training College in Cape Coast, after a 3-year duty tour at Apam.

"We should not allow politics to divide us, we should concentrate on how to facilitate the development of the country". He donated a cheque for GH=A2500.00 to the church to promote its activities and also presented a set of jerseys and a football to help promote sports in the town.

Mr Hackman promised to construct a volleyball pitch and volleyball items to improve the game in the church. Rev. Fr Mensah thanked the church for the honour done him.
