Support police with more logistics to operate – ACP Duku

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Kwaku Ampofo-Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, has called for increased public support by way of logistics and equipment supply to enable them to operate more effectively.

He said they needed to be assisted with vehicles and motorbikes for stepped- up patrols to fight crime.

He was speaking at a durbar held by chiefs and people of Buokrom Estate in Kumasi to raise funds to complete a police station started six years ago.

It comes with a residential accommodation for officers and is being jointly constructed by four communities – Buokrom Estate, Duase-Dote, Pankrono Eastate and Ahwiaa-Overseas.

An amount of GH?30,000.00 was mobilized alongside 155 bags of cement in aid of the project.

ACP Ampofo-Duku hailed the growing community participation in efforts at providing security protection for everybody through the construction of police stations but said equipping the officers with the relevant tools to perform, must also be given attention.

He used the occasion to remind the people to live within the law and to be bold to flag up criminals to the police.

Mr. Collins Owusu-Amankwah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North, said security was one of his main priorities and donated 75 bags of cement to support the project as well as street bulbs worth GH?5,000.00.

He, additionally, pledged to supply motorbikes to aid police patrols.

Nana Owusu Bempah, the Chief, said they would do everything to finish the job without delay.

Madam Margaret Barwuah, immediate past Assembly Member for the area, complained about the deplorable nature of roads in the area and pleaded with the Urban Roads Department to fix them.
