Former Asante Kotoko forward Francis Akwaffo has pointed out Stephen Oduro as the best footballer he has ever seen in the Ghana Premier League.

Akwaffo joined Lybian side Al-Ittihad Club from Asante Kotoko in 2011 said, the most talented and experienced footballer he ever played with was Stephen Oduro.

“I’ve played with a couple of big-name players in the country like Osei Kuffuor, Odartey Lamptey, Baba Armando, Charles Taylor, Stephen Oduro and I go no close to them, when I was a kid, I learned a lot from these stars,” he said in an interview with ‘Don Summer One’ on Youtube.

“I remember one of our games at Kotoko, Stephen came to me and told me I have three goals in the game and indeed it came to pass with his directions on the pitch that is why I always say Stephen Oduro is the best Ghanaian footballer ever for me, Although Charles Taylor, Don Bortey, Stephen Appiah have all paid their dues but Oduro stands tall.”

Kokoto's longest-serving member Oduro, was popularly called “Tico Tico”, he joined in the year 2000 from Real Tamale United (RTU) before switching to South Africa's Supersports United for a season. He returned to the Porcupines fold until he retired before the start of the 2016/17 season.

‘Tico Tico’ in his sixteen years won several domestic League titles with the Club including the Ghana Premier League and helped Kotoko to the finals of the CAF winners Cup in 2001 and CAF Confederations Cup in 2004.

Oduro was a member of the Black Starlets squad that won Bronze in the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Cup in New Zealand and won one cap with the Black Stars in 2003.
