The annual budgetary allocation for Sports in Ghana has been hit by a massive reduction of over 40%, the Finance Minister Seth Tekper has announced.

The GHC39m allocation approved for 2015 has been whittled down to GHC22m.

This massive decrease is consistent with the trend for the past four years where the budgetary allocation for sports keeps dripping.

Finance Minister Seth Tekper in his presentation of the 2016 budget to Parliament on Friday says the reduced amount will also be used on construction works for the Cape Coast and Ho Stadia aside it being used to fund the sporting activities.

The Sports Ministry have come under intense pressure lately for their failure to make available funds to run the various sporting federations.

This complaint is set to get even more intense in the coming year with a massive reduction in the budgetary allocation for sports.
