Promoted Norwegian side Sogndal have opened contract extension talks with their in-demand Ghana striker Mahatma Otoo.

Otoo, 23, has one year left on his contract and will be available on a free transfer after 2016.

"It is too early to say whether there will be a new contract or not. But it is clear that Otoo is a player we don’t want to lose for free,” Sogndal owner Havard Flo said.

The former Hearts of Oak striker scored 13 goals to help Sogndal win the Division 1 league and returned to the Norwegian top-flight at a canter.

Sogndal bought Otoo from Hearts of Oak for 300,000 euros in 2013 but his market value has rocketed.
