Six persons charged with murder

Six persons, including a woman on Monday appeared before an Accra Community tribunal charged with conspiracy and the murder of Kwesi Amemor, a regent of Anate Anidzie Dzanibibi stool.

The accused persons, Cephas Kwasivi Mamatsi, Matlida Mamatsi, Eric Kudzovi Mamatsi and Otu Masi all farmers, and Samuel Lagu and Kofi Narh, both fishermen.

Their pleas were not taken and were remanded in police custody to re-appear on September 9.

Three other accomplices whose names were not given are on the run. Police Inspector Peter Benneh told the tribunal chaired by Mr Kwadwo Owusu, that the accused persons were settlers on the Anate Anidzie Dzanbibi stool land.

He said there had been a protracted land dispute between Nana Atuobi Yiadom Kwahu Nkwatiahene and Anate Anidzie Dzanibibi stool. The prosecutor said on August 13, this year, the deceased was said to have gone to Anidzie, a village near Donkorkrom in the Afram Plains in the

Eastern Region to collect some sawn timber belonging to the suspects. The suspects who enquired about the missing sawn timber were informed that the accused had collected them.

The prosecutor said the suspects went to the house of the deceased and threatened him with death.

He said the following day Amemor was found dead in his room after he was allegedly shot on the bed.
