Seven people die from snakebite

Nkwanta (V/R), Nov. 22 GNA - Seven out of eight people bitten by snakes in Laboano died because there were no vehicles to rush them to hospital, Mr Stephen Golu, Former Assemblyman for Abrubruwa Electoral Area in the Nkwanta District, has said.

Mr Golu, who was speaking to the GNA, said the people died because vehicles had refused to ply the road linking Laboano with the rest of the country because of its deplorable sate. He said the rehabilitation of the three-kilometre road started about two years ago under the 5th Government of Ghana and European Union Micro Projects Programme had come to a halt. Togbe Butamekpor Klutse II, chief of Laboano, appealed to the Government to provide potable water to the town with a population of 600 people. 22 Nov. 07
