Hearts striker Selasi Adjei has suffered a massive setback in his quest to return for the final two games of the 2014/15 league season.

The hardworking striker, after several weeks on the sidelines, was at the club’s training on Monday but he could not last the first session as he complained of pains in his knee.

Selasi picked up a troubling knee injury in Hearts of Oak’s 2-1 win over Olympique Ngor in the CAF Confederation Cup, but despite several attempts to come back, he is yet to fully shake off the injury.

The former Amidaus Professionals goal poacher returned to the team in the second round, netting against Brong Ahafo United and Heart of Lions in the First Capital Plus Premier league.

Selasi started the scoring in the 4-0 rout of Heart of Lions, but it proved to be a pyrrhic goal for the striker, as he got carried off seconds after heading past Mozart Adjetey. He returned to training on Monday since his cameo start against the Kpando based club, but the technical team have been dealt a major blow after Selasi complained of new pains in his knee.

Hearts of Oak physiotherapist Okyere Agyei Baffour confirmed Selasi's new setback. "Selasi joined us at training on Monday, but he complained of sharp pains after joining the rest of the team in the ball work routine," Agyei Baffour told the club’s website. "We took a precautionary step by asking him to take a rest from the exercise.

He is scheduled to go for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan, after that he will see Dr. Bulley and we will know the extent of the problem.

Hearts of Oak will host Berekum Chelsea at the Accra sports stadium on September 6 on match day 29 of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League as their fight to beat the drop zone continues.
