Sekyere East Gets Clinic

Sekyere (Ashanti Region), 12 Oct. A 60 million-cedi Clinic financed by Japan and the United States for the people of Sekyere in the Sekyere East district was commissioned at the weekend. Japan provided 52 million cedis while the U.S. assisted with eight million cedis and six million cedis to build toilets for the town. Netherlands contributed two million cedis for the control of erosion and tree planting while Barclays Bank of Ghana Limited provided one million cedis to promote health and sanitation projects of the Sekyere District Assembly. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum, who commissioned the projects, regretted that inspite of government's efforts,''there are still many communities without good good schools, hospitals or clinics, good sources of water and decent toilets.'' The people of Sekyere have therefore taken the right step in initiating and undertaking those projects with assistance from friendly countries. He praised the people for demonstrating their concern for the environment by tackling erosion and planting trees.
