Second edition of ‘MOBA Praise’ held

It was all joy at the Covenant Family Community Church when the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) held the second edition of its annual Praise and Worship concert “MOBA Praise‘17” under the theme “A Charge to Keep I have”.

The programme brought together “Old Boys” of the School, their families, friends and the general public in an atmosphere of Praise, Worship and Thanksgiving to God.

Featuring in the programme were popular artistes like Alfred Patrick Addaquay, Jasher Taylor, Yaw Antwi-Dadzie, Rev. Nana Folson, Calvis Hammond and Kay Kwansah all “Old Boys” who thrilled the congregation with some very exciting gospel songs. Also on the bill was the ever popular Joyful Way Incorporated and the Mfantsipim School Choir and Regimental Band.

Delivering the sermon, Prophet Kakra Baiden of the Lighthouse Chapel International, and an “Old Boy” stressed the need for true believers to hold fast to their faith in God. He reiterated that “you can lose your house, position, anything you can think of, but never ever lose your faith in God."

Also included in the program were short exaltations and prayers from the Very Rev. Kingsley Offe-Amoyaw of the Methodist Church Ghana and Rev. Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh, General Overseer of New Creation Chapel International.

Addressing the congregation the Ebusuapanyin (President) of MOBA, Capt. Paul Forjoe, explained that “The vision of MOBA as the pre-eminent network of all Mfantsipim alumni is to become the unique standard-setting brand for all alumni associations in Ghana. So whatever we do we expect all others to follow. We were the first and we cherish that strongly and we believe that others should be able to emulate what we do at the end of the day.”

Capt. Forjoe further expanded on the reason for the concert saying “MOBA Praise is the event on our annual calendar that gives us the opportunity to celebrate our colleagues in Christian ministry with friends and family. We give them the platform so that they can share with us what ‘Kwabotwe’ has made out of them”
Acknowledging the fact that many people are proud of their alma mater but put little or no effort in aiding their schools, he called on other alumni associations to be committed to the development of their schools.

“A charge to keep I have is a call to commitment. From where I stand I am calling for the commitment of all alumni to their various schools. We all take a lot of pride in associating ourselves with the schools that we went to. Recently there was a call by government to give back schools to the missions It is a nice call but it will take a lot of work to make it happen” he added.

Since its establishment in 1876 by the Methodist Church, Mfantsipim School has produced prominent people in Ghana and the world at large including Nobel laureate His Excellency Busumuru Kofi Annan former Secretary-General of the United Nations, immediate past Vice-President of Ghana H.E. Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur and many more.
