SWAG CUP: I told Bash not to beat Kotoko - Otumfuo

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of the Porcupine warriors on a lighter note revealed how his one on one chat with Coach Bashiru Hayford had an influence on the SWAG Cup results.

Ashanti Gold on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace to present the two trophies they clinched in the course of the 2014-15 season, namely the Ghana Premier League and the Otumfuo Cup. “All the clubs in the Ashanti region are mine: Kotoko, Ashgold, King Faisal and Corners Stones.

“Two of my teams, Ashgold and Kotoko were playing the SWAG Cup, so I went to Coach Bashiru Hayford and told him that he shouldn’t beat Kotoko, but beat other teams.

“Ashgold should go to Africa and do me proud by excelling,” said Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Asante Kotoko last season went trophyless when they failed to defend both the FA Cup and the league title won last season.

The frustration of the Porcupine Warriors increased when Ashgold edged them to win the Otumfuo Cup, but the SWAG Cup victory has brought back their confidence.
