SIC presents trophy for SWAG match

SIC Insurance Company Limited, headline sponsors of the 2015 “SIC Nyemitei SWAG Match” has acquired a brand new trophy for the match.

The 21-inch trophy will replace the existing one which had been used by organizers of the match – Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) for over 15 years.

Nana Yaw Mantey, Corporate Affairs Manager of SIC Insurance Company Limited, said the new trophy is part of his outfits plan to re-brand the SWAG Cup Match, which remains one of the oldest competitions in the country.

According to Nana Mantey, the brand new trophy, which was received on Sunday, will be unveiled during the grand launch of the match in Kumasi next Friday. He said the new trophy is among some of the few measures adopted by the company to make the revived SIC Nyemitei SWAG Cup Match a memorable one. Nana Mantey said, they are looking forward to a keen competition between the two sides, as both teams have demonstrated quality in the just ended season.

Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, President of SWAG expressed appreciation to the insurance giants for the decision to acquire a new trophy for the competition. He said the move is an expression of the company’s determination to give the revived the SWAG match a befitting comeback. “We delighted at the initiative of SIC and we will continue to indebted to them. The trophy will definitely revive passion for the match.

“The winner of the match will go into the record as the first club to have touched the brand new trophy”. He stated.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashgold will vie for the “2015 SIC Nyemitei SWAG Match” at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday, November 29.
