Revision of Voters' Register postponed to May six.

Accra, April 11, GNA - The revision of the Voters' Register has been rescheduled to commence on Saturday May six and end on Monday, May 15, the Electoral Commission said on Tuesday.

A statement signed by Mr David Kangah, Deputy Chairman of the Commission Operations, said the rescheduling has become necessary due to unforeseen difficulties encountered in the United Kingdom in the production of Registration Forms that could be scanned by computers.

The register was to be re-opened from April 15 to 24 to enable those, who have attained the age of 18 and new entrants who, because of one reason or the other, could not register in 1995 to do so.

This would also offer the Commission the opportunity to remove the names of the dead from the register. The Commission expressed the hope that the general public, political parties and prospective voters would take note of the new dates and co-operate to make the revision exercise a success.

"The Commission regrets any inconvenience the postponement might have caused'', the statement said.
