Return to Bekwai makes financial sense – Ackumey

Alex Ackumey, Vice Chairman of New Edubiase United, has said the club’s return to their favourite Gyamfi Park home ground makes financial sense.

The club’s finances near depletion since their switch to the Len Clay Park in Obuasi two seasons ago. Their relocation to the Len Clay Park was as a result of the Premier League Board’s (PLB’s) disapproval of the Gyamfi Park as not meeting the league’s standard.

And Ackumey, in a radio interview with Joy FM, said the return is a blessing which makes a lot of sense, especially in financial terms.

“It [return] has helped us a lot, in terms of supporters as it is the home base of the club. It was difficult for our fans to watch our games and that has affected us financially.

“But returning home has been helpful as the game against Hasaacas gave us a gross profit of a little more than one thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc1,000) which we didn’t have during matchdays at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

“Our best was three hundred Ghana Cedis or three hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis,” he revealed.
