Reshuffle: The People's Voice

Unedited Views From GhanaHomePage visitors

I appreciated the changes in the ministerial positions except one sector: Ports, harbors & railway. This sector should combine with transport. Rail is means of transport & i don't see the reason why it it separated from transport ministry.
-- Kwame Atta /odu-sunyani

If the reshuffle will improve conditions in Ghana, then we are all for it. We are currently suffering and anything to ease our current condition will be greatly appreciated.
-- Joyce Esi Pantsil (Accra)

This is simply MORE Jobs for JAK's Family members and the Asante Clan. This is my proof
1. Ports, harbors and railways should be combined with the Roads & Highways minstries to form a ministry of Transportations (or something to that effect)
2. Modernization of the capital city is a task of AMA or the reginal minister. If JAK deems it very important, he should supervise and not create a whole new ministry
3. Presidential Initiative does not need a ministry. It's a big Joke.
4. Regional Co-Operation and NEPAD: Regional Co-Opertion is part of Foreign Affarirs. NEPAD should be under economic planning
4. Private Sector Development: should be a department in a ministry.
5. Senior Minister: Can JAK please spell out the responsibilities of J.H Mensah?

well, if the reshuffle is the best solution to solve or improve Ghanian governmental corruption, then I give it the go ahead

IT IS A DISGRACE TO THE KUFFUOR ADMINISTRATION AFTER YELLING TO THE PEOPLE OF GHANA ,THAT THE FORMER PRESIDENT WAS WAISTING OUR RESOURSES BY CREATING LOT OF MINISTRIES.COUNT THE MINISTRIES OF BOTH ADMINISTRATION AND MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!! GHANAIANS IS ABOUT TIME FOR US TO "CALL A SPADE A SPADE"
-- osuman hamidu

Sometimes I wonder how some of us draw the line when development of other cities are related to others. In other words, will the same opinion be said of if the mordernisation was for Kumasi, Tamale other than Accra, the national capital and seat of government?
Those rendering their opinions against Accra mordenisation must be thinking from their stomachs.
-- Mallam Rashid

I believe, in this modern world, which we are members, changes must be done with the view to improving efficiency and effectiveness, and finally cost reduction. Delaying to put the right people at the right places is an implicit cost to the state.
I am only pleased in this reshuffle that Nana Akuffo Addo is named the Foreign Minister, he is best suited for it and the delay in placing him at that position was an avoidable waste.
Disappointed that Dr. Apraku has not been named to take over the Finance Ministry now that it includes economic planning. He has the best expertise to manage the economy better. I am confident that he has the right training to link the activities of the ministry with Agric and industry for value added to take our country out of under-development.
-- Ahmed Imoro

I think some ministries and their relevant heads are irrelevant? What is the difference between a minister, a deputy minister, a minister of state and a special assistant to only one ministry? Why creating all this unimportant positions to creat money? I think we Ghanaians need to a new birth of thinking.

I think what our president is doing is very excellent. He has the power to change any official who tries to disgrace his government. that was wat happened to Rawlings when he never minded his officials spending our money on stupid things. i support him and continue to fire any one who misbehaves with the economy.
-- Eric Kwarteng

Do you know the next ministries we are going to have soon?, MINISTRIES OF ASHANTI AFFAIRS, MINISTRIES OF THE THE PRESIDENTS FAMILIES AND FRIENDS. wELL THE GOVERNMENT ALREADY REFLECTS THAT THOUGH. What a ridiculous country we live in.

A GOOD AND BOLD DECISION ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAME AS A SURPRISE TO EVERYONE. It is unfortunate the statement from the NDC General Secretary Dr Josiah Aryeh . This statement is not expected from a man of his calibre. It only does 2 things: displays the ignorance of the General Secretary who cannot distinguish asantes from other AKANS and also unnecessarily inflamming ethnic sentiments in the country which is the hallmark of the party he represents.
-- KWAKU FENIN

How long will Ghana be used as a lab.
-- Kwame Antwi

it is an illustration of the President's full control and monitoring of his administration towards positive change.
-- anonymous

By now the government should know the ability of every minister so is time to reshuuffle to do away with ineffective ministers to prove to the whole world that the system is Not WHOM you KNOW but a true democracy.
-- Kwame Sintim Aboagye

I think the President is doing a fine job by changing the composition of the cabinet. He has good agenda for the country, and therefore, ask citizens of the Republic to give him four more years
-- Kwame Osei Tutu Agyeman

This is an exercise long overdue, taking cognizance of the way some ministers handled their portfolios with dexterity while others simply seemed to be going through the motions. Now that H.E The President has exercised his perogatives in implementing the long expected reshuffle, it remains to be seen whether he will be vindicated or not especially with respect to the merging of certain key ministeries. While at it, would His Excellency take a look at certain regional ministers and their activities in their domains? I am quite certain the country would be better off if reshuffling is visited unto regional ministers also espcially in the Central Region to give but one example.
-- Calus Von Brazi

i think it is in order and i strongly believe that the president, his excellency will once again prove skeptics wrong like when he appointed his younger brother to the defence ministry. on the whole i think by shuffling the executive arm of government around he is aiming at efficiency and effectiveness so that at the of the day ghanaians will benefit something positive.

It is good to see it happen as all of them are multitalented and hence will be able to perform wherever they are. Remember it is only a 'managerial position'. Happy to hear that Ose Kwaku is gone! Our football was dying befor he assumed office but the death gained a higher mumentun under his leadership. We will need visionary leaders like Herbert Mensah to revive our dear sports. Lond live president Kuffour and long live Ghana
-- Frederick K. Otu-Sarpong (London)

Much as it is good to reshuffle ministers, that is just a fraction of the non performing Kufour administration. I see the bulk of the problem to be from the desire of Mr Kufour to surround himself with his hamily and friends, many of who may probably not get an ordinary job in an office based on their CV.
Issues such us corrution, misuse of office, unecessary special assistants and general lack of a clear direction is sending Ghana back. Can the president say he and his government are not corrupt hence the only corrupt people in in Ghana are the members of the former government?.
How can Jake Obatsebi Lamptey be a minister of state? , some one whose IQ is so low he could not write and pass any exams is heading a ninistry. The best he should have been given is a post at the NPP office where his academic lightweightness could not cause much harm to the country.
I know you may not agree with me but but the president himself is a bit of lightweight intelligentia hence a bunch of them.
Reshuffle or not, what Ghanaians expect is food water, shealter for all not only for the president and his friends oe Ashanti Region alone
-- Kwame

****, all these are ways to put dust on our eyes. Even I doubt the credibility of some of the ministers in their new schedules. For instance Papa Owusu- Ankomah. He is not learned as Akufo-Addo.
-- Pooh

I I were to rank these ministries, Modernisation of Capital City will be at the top. If Accra is saturated, why don't they earmark another city for this task? Many ountries have administrative and state capitals. Australia is one.
Private Sector Development was setup to enable NPP line-up their pockets. If you are not a conformist, how the hell will the minister entertain you?
Jurassic Henry Mensah as Senior Minister.Laughable indeed. Special Presidential Inniative like Cassava growing too gets a Minister. Did we go or did we come?
In summary, these are all jobs for the boys.
-- Kwabinah tawiah

In simple terms, The NPP gov't lacks ideas and ingenuity. Now all that they strive to do is to create job avenues for the BOYS. It's sad, but it seems for now we just have to wait for 2 more years to push them out of office.
-- Adona

i think all the above [created ministries] is very necessary. take all the cities in Ghana for a example. they're alot of polytene anf gabbage all over the place which courses flooding in the rainy season.we do,nt have to wait till it,s gets out of hand. let's act right now. GOD BLESS MOTHER GHANA.
-- akua amponsah

Modernisation of the Capital City is the direct responsibility of AMA Chief Executive so there is no need for a ministry for this.
-- Nii

If not the best he is one of the best president we have ever had.I therefore have conf. in him and his cabinet.the NDC's should shut up and go to hell. message from the states.
-- Edward Assinor

We alredy have a President and a vice President. What is the relevance of the senior minister? Is he a Prime minister? He is a wate of resiurces.
-- Patrick
