Reorganisation at GNA

Accra, Aug. 3, GNA - The Ghana News Agency (GNA), the first news agency in Africa South of the Sahara, is to begin an extensive reorganisation to meet the future following months of discussions and analysis.

A statement issued in Accra on Sunday said as part of the exercise, defined as the various users and customers of news and information in the country, association or non-governmental agency with its principal customers becoming stakeholders in the company over the next five years.

The statement said this comes as a result of comprehensive work being done cooperatively by Global Media Alliance, consultants appointed by the National Institutional Renewal Programme and the Management of of GNA, as saying, "it is important for GNA to reposition itself in the news and information market in order to grow its revenue and attract new clientele".

He added that the industry is going through a period of great technological changes and it is imperative that GNA changes its ways of doing business in order to survive.

"The decision to explore the new ways of doing business means a sustainable future and that GNA will continue to fulfil a vital role in the socio-economic and political development of the country," Mr Owusu-Ansah said.
