Register Birth Deliveries - Communities Told

Wa, Aug. 15, - Communities have been advised to register their births and deaths to enable the Statistical Service to get the right information on births and deaths rate in the country to facilitate planning and development. The registration of deaths especially, will enable the Ministry of Health to identify the common diseases in various areas and to embark on preventive measures. Mr Jamani Kugbee, Wa District Officer of births and deaths who gave this advice, told the GNA Wa that even though most people register, there are some who still do not see the need to do so. He said his outfit feeds the Ministry of Health with information on births and deaths and the diseases that cause the deaths to enable the sector ministry to take the necessary preventive measures. He urged the communities to assist his outfit by registering all their births and deaths.

Workers Will Be Consulted On Salary Disucssions - Gamey

Koforidua, Aug. 15, - Workers will be consulted on the outcome of the on-going discussions on the Price Waterhouse Report, Mr Austin Gamey, Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, has said. He stressed that the recommended salary and wage regime will not be implemented without the views of the government's social partners. He was addressing an emergency National Council meeting of the Civil Servants Association of Ghana (CSAG) at Koforidua. Mr Gamey said consultants were currently discussing the report and that their conclusions would be submitted to the stakeholders for their comments before its implementation. Meanwhile, he said, the government would liaise with its social partners including the CSAG, the nurses, teachers and judicial service associations and "indeed the TUC, to ensure appropriate adjustments in current wages and salaries." He assured workers that the government would not hesitate in implementing the Price Waterhouse Report as soon as its ''recommendations are finally accepted by the social partners''. The participants hoped that the implementation of the final report would not rpt not be unduly delayed and that there would be no more salary disparities in the system.
