Regional Minister Named In Bribery scandal

The Western Regional Minister, Mr. J.B. Aidoo, has been mentioned as one of the top Government officials, who have colluded with Goldfields Ghana Limited, in frustrating the efforts of the people of Atuabo, near Tarkwa, from getting their full and agreed compensation from the company.

In a petition to President Kufuor, the group said instead of assisting the people to get the compensation of about ?10 billion paid to them, the Regional Minister colluded with the company to work out a controversial loan package, under the Social Emergency Relief Fund, as a poverty alleviation exercise.
