Regional Minister Meets Agencies On Sanitation

Accra (GAR), July 11, - Mr Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra Regional Minister, today called for a concerted effort to combat sanitation problems in Accra. Speaking at a meeting in Accra on environmental sanitation with law enforcement agencies and members of the Concerned Citizens Association of Ghana, he noted that Accra's biggest problem revolve He said in view of this, the Regional Co-ordinatin g Council has formed a regional sanitation m onitoring team which toured districts in the region adding that its report which will be discussed. Mr Alabi said people must abide by the building code because floods in Accra and its environs have showed that most waterways and drains are blocked by such structures. ''The Administration will soon come out with unpalatable but necessary decisions with regard to building regulations for the region to save life and property''. The Regional Minister said the AMA cannot cope with waste management in the metropolis and that private companies will be contracted to dispose of mountains of filth in the city.
