Re: World Bank Paints Ghana Black

Our
attention has been drawn to a recent publication in a Ghanaian
newspaper on the above subject. We wish to state that these
images are not the way the World Bank sees Ghana. To the contrary, we
see Ghana
as a country that has made impressive strides over the last ten years
and more,
with a record of growth and progress in improving the lives of its
citizens. It
is now close to being a middle income country.
The
images were not part of any Bank-supported exhibit and have now been
removed
from the archives. We regret their use and publication, and any offense
they so
understandably caused.
We
have been working on new guidelines
to govern all images owned by the World Bank and will undertake a
review of our
collection accordingly.

Ghana, please visit the World Bank Ghana website at this link:
