Rawlings Supporters To Demonstrate Against Mills

A group calling itself National Coalition of Foot Soldiers which is aligned to the ruling National Democratic Congress has hinted about a possible massive demonstration in Kumasi against the Mills-Mahamma administration to show their discontent for´´ill treatment against the founder of the party,Jerry John Rawlings.

The group is amazed at the recent level of insults, intimidation and harassment by some officials of Mills-Mahamma administration, saying´´nothing stop us from organizing a mammoth demonstration on 6 October,2011 against the leadership of the party and the Mills-led administration.

Speaking on Aseda Radio in Belgium news analysis programme,Bamaso, spoke person for the group, Rashid Alhasan,´´intimated President administration has only succeeded in cultivating the culture of division and factionalism in the NDC´´.He believes that will spell doom for the NDC if left to continue.According to him, with the command that the former President wields in Ghana´s political circles, hence it will be impossible for President Mills to win a second term in office without Mr Rawlings involvement.

After the party´s National delegates congress to elect President Mills to lead the party again, many party people have called for unity for the upcoming general elections in 2012.However,Rashid Alhassan has blamed Mills-led administration for the division within the party, saying he has failed as a party leader.

The group has pledged to stand by the former President Rawlings because they believes ´´there is no doubt Mr Rawlings is a titanic figure in the NDC party, hence will not sit down for some elements within the government to insult the Rawlingses ´´.And therefore cautioned the government officials against any direct insults on the founder and also desist from making divisive utterances that could further deepen the disunity in the NDC.
