Honorable Nii Adjei Tawiah the Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) says National Digital Addressing System will help boost investor confidence by transforming the economy and increasing economic growth.

He said the system will help in the adoption of modern technology in service delivery and revenue mobilization for effective local governance.

National Digital Addressing System has come to stay; and the Municipality will take advantage of the work done on the Street Naming exercise to implement the system and manage property database in KoKMA.

According to Nii Adjei Tawiah, gone are the days when using benchmarks such as a school building, church, mosque, tree, an old building, public toilet, colored house, waakye seller or drinking bar to describe or direct someone to a particular location or property.

The National Digital Address has the advantage of allowing individuals, emergency service providers and municipal service providers to be provided to the doorstep of citizens since it affords easy tracking of addresses within KoKMA in particular and Ghana as a whole.

Nii Adjei Tawiah made this known when he inaugurated the Municipal Committee on Street Naming and Property Address System. He assured the Committee members of his unflinching support in order to complete the exercise, which was once started by Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

"Street Naming and Property Address system makes it easy to find accurately locate businesses, important agencies or bureaus like the ministries, national monuments, international organizations, among others within Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly’’ said Nii Adjei Tawiah.

The head of the Physical Planning Department, Mrs. Patience Osei-Nyarko Puorideme took the committee members through the work that has been done so far on the Street Naming and Property Address System within KoKMA and asked them to shoulder the project wholeheartedly.

She indicated that street naming and property addressing in the municipality holds the key to bring more properties and businesses into the tax system to improve the assembly’s internally generated funds. The system also has the advantage to giving citizens quick access to emergency assistance such as fire service, ambulance service, police service, etc.

The Municipal Chief Executive chairs the Committee and have the following as members; Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Adabraka Manste Nii Tetteh Adjaben II, Mr. Benjamin Mingle representing Osu Traditional council, Mr. Joseph Noel Narh also from Osu Traditional Council, Development Planning Sub-committee Chairman, the Works Sub-Committee Chairman, Municipal Physical Planning officer, Municipal Finance Officer, Municipal Planning Officer, Municipal Budget Officer, Municipal Works Director, Municipal Urban Roads Officer, and Municipal Public Relations Officer.
