Primary School Pupils lie on their stomachs for lessons

Zuarungu(UER), Dec. 13, GNA - Pupils at Afeghera Primary School at Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, lie on their stomachs to take down notes as a result of inadequate classroom furniture.

The school also lack, teaching and learning materials, source of drinking water, toilet facilities and is not hooked to the National School Feeding Programme.

The Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Adishetu Braimah disclosed the school's predicament during the 50th Anniversary and Speech and Prize Given Day of the academic facility on Friday at Zuarungu. She said the population of the school continued to dwindle because some parents were withdrawing their children. Mrs. Braimah noted that despite the challenges, the school was performing well in both academic and extra curricular activities such as cultural display.

The school also excelled in the school performance monitoring test. The Headmistress appealed to stakeholders to come to the aid of the school.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Epsona Ayamga assured the School of the provision of furniture to facilitate teaching and learning. He urged members of the community to view the school as their own property and contribute to complement Government's investments in education.
