President warns masterminds of agitations, grateful to foot soldiers

Bolgatanga, (U/E) May 29, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills has warned people behind agitation groups to be wary of the consequences of their actions. He said they should not forget that as they worked to remove people from positions in order to take over the knot would turn against them in the future.

President Mills was on Saturday addressing supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC), who gathered at the residence of the Upper East Regional Minister to welcome him to the Region. He expressed gratitude to the foot soldiers of the Party for working hard irrespective of the danger they encountered to bring the Party back to power and said he would remain committed to them.

"It would be criminal on my part to turn my back on you," he stressed. "If I do that Allah would not bless me." President Mills urged the supporters to remain calm and focused as the Government implemented the requisite measures to put the economy on a sound footing.

He said he appreciated the speed with which Ghanaians, especially NDC supporters, wanted the Government to move but indicated that Government inherited an ailing economy which needed a tactical approach and a strategic framework to work fix.

President Mills is in the Region to attend the final funeral rites of the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, Pe Roland Ayagitam II. The President indicated that in view of the prudent economic policies of his administration, he was hopeful that things would get better. 29 May 10
