Power outages upset Afoko’s evidence in court

Suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko was on Thursday frustrated by power outages while in the dock as he stepped forward to give his evidence in-chief in the case involving the suspension of the first national vice chair of the party, Sammy Crabbe.

The lights in the court room where the case is being heard went off about 15 times within an hour, Starr News’ court correspondent Wilberforce Asare reported.

The development has compelled the court to adjourn the case to May 4.

Mr. Crabbe is in court challenging his suspension by the disciplinary committee of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition. He contends that some of the members of the committee who voted for his suspension are not legitimate members of the committee.

Mr Afoko, who is also serving a suspension, is in court today to testify in support of his colleague suspended executive.

The NPP suspended the executives, including the general secretary last year, over acts the party considers inimical to its political fortunes.
