Police officers update knowledge in cyber security

The Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, as part of the transformation drive of the Service, has organised a Capacity Building Workshop on Media Monitoring and cyber security for its officers from across the Police Regions.

The workshop, which started on Monday, November 5, was jointly facilitated by Dr. Messan Mawugbe of the Centre for Media Analysis and the Director of Cyber crime, Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent Dr. Gustav Yankson.

The participants were taken through media monitoring analysis skills, fake news, cyber security, traditional and new media.

Assistant Commissioner of Police David Eklu, the Director-General of Public Affairs Directorate, encouraged participants to utilize their new knowledge to effectively leverage the power of social media for effective public communication to enhance Police Operations.

The participants, after going through various demonstrations in the field of media monitoring, said the workshop had given them great insight on the issues and expressed the hope that there would more of such workshops to continually sharpen their skills in other critical areas of media practice.

The participants were awarded certificates of participation at the end of the course.
